Tip# 1 – DIY
Do it yourself, this is also known as recreating what you already have to make it look brand new or give off a different feel. This is a great idea when you want to know how to decorate a small apartment. I have done this with re-painting, staining, or changing the textures of certain decor items. Here is an example:
I changed the color of this TV console from a weird yellow color by spray painting it white. It is in need of a new paint job – but you get the idea 🙂
Tip # 2- Discount Stores!
This may seem like an obvious one but still noteworthy – shop during sales, shop discount stores that have home decor items. Stores such as Ross Dress for Less, DD’s discount, TJ Max, and more. Ross has good sales on art work, desks, chairs, small decor items for shelves and displays, pillows, etc. Most people ask how to decorate a small apartment on a budget and this is the ONE! 🙂
Tip # 3 – Thrift Shopping!
There is almost always thrift store in every city. First, you can google different thrift shops. Secondly, you can call them up and ask what their inventory looks like. And finally, go into different stores to find really cheap home decor. It is usually reusable – hence it being in the store for people to purchase. However, sometimes it may need slight reupholstering, give it a try! This is definitely something to do to get out of the house during quarantine 😉
Tip # 4- Online re-sale!
Websites such as Offer up , letgo, or oodle usually have items for more than half the price you would pay in stores. (Click on the links to explore)
The items are usually in good condition, people just want to get rid of things to buy new things for. And on Offer-up you can negotiate the price point. This is what the site is actually for, making offers. Lastly on all of these sites you can sell some of the furniture or decor you don’t want anymore to make money! I definitely recommend this tip! (There are mobile apps for these which makes it so much easier!).
Tip # 5 – Amazon!
Not everyone knows you can get home decor and cheap things off of Amazon. This is really how to decorate a small apartment when you have a budget. Surprising right!
